Crime Alert: KPD INVESTIGATES AGGRAVATED ASSAULT NEAR TRUMAN CAMPUS
2200 Block of South High Street-near Truman State University Campus
On Saturday morning, December 3rd, 2016, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Kirksville Police Department was dispatched to the 2200 Block of South High Street in Kirksville for a report of a female victim of an aggravated assault.
The eighteen year old female victim is not a Truman Student and is in stable condition at the local hospital.
The suspect is unknown at this time, but should be considered to be armed and dangerous.
The Kirksville Police Department is currently investigating this case. Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Kirksville Police Department at (660) 665-5621.
While nothing is fail-safe, there are things you can do that might help protect yourself and the campus community:
- If possible, don’t walk alone during late-night hours. Walk in groups whenever you can—there is always safety in numbers.
- Let a family member or friend know your destination and your estimated time of arrival or return. That way, the police can be notified as quickly as possible if there is a problem.
- Report any suspicious activity or person immediately to the local police department using 9-1-1.
