Campus Law Enforcement
The Truman State University Department of Public Safety Police Division provides law enforcement services to the Truman State University community. We are a full service police department providing services 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year. All officers are licensed by the State of Missouri and are graduates of a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement academy and have full arrest powers. All officers are required to attend ongoing training in areas of concern to law enforcement and community relations. Several officers are certified instructors and teach officers from other agencies and at law enforcement academies.
Campus Law Enforcement is a constantly challenging profession. It is usually on the “cutting edge” of community policing. It is a field that allows for innovative and new ideas to be attempted and “fine tuned” to gain a greater understanding of how law enforcement and communities can work together to accomplish their goals and missions. More and more, law enforcement recognizes that it cannot do everything it is charged to do without involvement in the community it serves. It is an ever changing process and we need every resource available to get the job done to provide for the safety of us all.
