The safety of all members of the campus community is of vital concern to Truman State University. The Department of Public Safety serves the campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing both emergency and non-emergency assistance to the University community.

It is the policy of the Department of Public Safety to only admit persons to locked buildings who have authorization.

The Department of Public Safety sponsors crime prevention programs that teach individuals how to reduce their risk of being victimized.
Truman faculty, staff, and students can sign up to receive emergency text messages. You can register up to three mobile numbers to receive alerts.
The Department of Public Safety offers a Lost and Found Service for the Truman community.
To request a SAFE Team escort, call (660) 785-5621 and ask for an officer to escort you where you need to go on campus.
The Truman Department of Public Safety works collaboratively with the campus to coordinate the University’s compliance activities with the Clery Act.

- A police officer is on-duty 24 hours and can be reached in an emergency by dialing 911.

The Department of Public Safety at Truman has a receptionist on-duty Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for University holidays. A student receptionist is on duty Monday – Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The DPS Reception area is closed weekends during the Summer Sessions.
