Truman Police investigate a theft of a motor vehicle from parking lot East of Ryle Hall.

A motor vehicle was stolen from the parking lot East of Ryle Hall sometime today, October 6, 2021. The vehicle was recovered this evening and returned to the owner. The suspect is still at large.
Truman and Kirksville Police Departments are actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Truman Police Department at (660) 665-5621.
While nothing is fail-safe, there are things you can do that might help protect yourself from becoming a victim of motor vehicle theft. Many auto thefts are crimes of “opportunity”. Leaving the keys in your car (even a “hidden” spare key) greatly increases your chances of having your car stolen.
- Don’t leave your keys in your vehicle.
- Close your windows and lock your doors whenever you leave your vehicle, regardless of how long you plan to be gone.
- Park in well‐lit areas.
- Do not leave valuables and packages in your vehicle.
- Immediately report any suspicious activity on campus to the Truman Police Department 660-665-5621.

A motor vehicle was stolen from the Truman Farm sometime between Monday, December 21st, 2020 at 11 p.m. and December 22nd, 2020 at 7 a.m. The vehicle is a Dark Green Ford F250 flatbed with Missouri License plate TSU-0048. The vehicle has a black passenger door and black passenger side front fender. The passenger door has numbers written on it in white wax pencil.

Attempted Assault

Truman Campus-parking lot between the SUB & McClain Hall
On 10-06-2020, the Truman Police Department received a report about an attempted assault that occurred in the parking lot between the SUB and McClain Hall on campus. The reporting party stated that at approximately 7:45 p.m. this evening, she was walking to her vehicle when a male ran at her and grabbed her arm. The female reported that the male tried to stop her from getting into her vehicle, but failed. Once in the vehicle, the male beat on the windows of the car and yelled for the driver to get out. The female was able to leave the scene safely and contact law enforcement.
The male suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s, wearing a red Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt, baggy jean shorts, and black gloves. The suspect is described have short blonde or balding hair and was missing teeth.

• If possible, don’t walk alone during late-night hours. Walk in groups whenever you can—there is always safety in numbers.
• Let a family member or friend know your destination and your estimated time of arrival or return. That way, the police can be notified as quickly as possible if there is a problem.
• Report any suspicious activity or person immediately to the local police department using 9-1-1.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 6th, 2020, there were several vehicles on Truman campus that vandalized by having the tires punctured. The Truman Police Department has identified three persons of interest in this case. We are working with the Truman and Kirksville communities to investigate and resolve this case as quickly and as safely possible.

The Truman Police Department is investigating a burglary and theft which occurred between May 16th and May 24th in the Kirk Building on campus. In this case, the suspect gained access by ripping a screen on a window and crawling into the building and stealing various items inside.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Truman PD at (660)665-5621.
- Report any crime or suspicion of a crime at once. If Truman PD is contacted within the first five minutes, police have a better chance of finding a suspect.
- Never prop open a locked building door.
- Do not open a secure door for someone who does not carry proper identification. Hospital, custodial, and maintenance staff members wear identification tags at all times with their photos and names.
- Burglars frequently target cash, laptops, phones, bikes, jewelry, etc. Don’t leave attractive items out in plain sight. If possible, store them in a locked drawer, closet or interior room. Or try to take small valuables with when you leave.

600 Block of South High Street
On Friday, April 10thh, at approximately 11:20 p.m., three males went to a residence in the 600 block of South High Street. Two of the males displayed handguns and demanded money from the residents. After receiving money, they left the area.
This residence was targeted for a purpose, and this does not appear to be a random incident.
The City of Kirksville Police Department (KPD) has arrested one individual involved in this incident. They have identified the two remaining males, however, they remain at large. A motor vehicle was stolen from the parking lot East of Ophelia Parrish Building on Truman Campus sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. , today, November 7th, 2019. The vehicle is a 2003 dark gray Jeep Cherokee with Missouri License plate NC8P5L. The vehicle has a red Truman parking sticker in the driver’s side rear window with the number 2868 on it.

A motor vehicle was stolen from the parking lot southwest of Centennial Hall sometime between Sunday, October 27th, 2019 at 10 p.m. and Tuesday , October 29th, 2019 at 10 p.m. The vehicle is a 2002 Subaru Outback, Dark red/tan in color with Missouri License plate XE3B3T.

BNB HALL PARKING LOT
On Tuesday, October 29th, at 6:30 p.m., Truman Police Department responded to the parking lot of BNB Hall on campus in regard to an attempted robbery. A delivery driver parked out back of BNB Hall to deliver food to students at BNB. When he returned to his car he found a male going through his vehicle. He confronted the male and an altercation took place. The delivery driver reported that the male had a knife. The suspect fled the scene on foot and ran towards Ryle Hall. The driver received minor injuries.
The victim described the suspect to be a middle aged white male, approximately 5’10, skinny build, with short dark hair and a short beard. He was wearing jeans, a dark coat, and was carrying a backpack.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Truman State University Police Department. Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Truman Police at (660) 665-5621.

Update: On Friday, October 25th, the vehicle stolen from Campbell Apartments parking lot was located in Fairfield, Iowa. The owner has been notified that the vehicle was recovered.

407 E. Scott Street
On Saturday, October 26th, at approximately 9 p.m., six English speaking black males entered the residence at 407 East Scott Street and demanded money from the residents. It was reported that the males were wearing ski masks and at least one male was armed with a compact handgun. The suspects assaulted a male resident, stole money and fled the scene in a vehicle. The type of vehicle and their direction of travel are unknown.

A motor vehicle was stolen from the Campbell Apartments parking lot sometime between Sunday, October 20th, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. and October 22nd, 2019 at 6:15 p.m. The vehicle is a 2009 Red Pontiac G5 with Missouri License plate EA1R7F. The vehicle has a red Truman parking sticker in the driver’s side rear window with the number 617 on it.

Description
The Truman State University Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary which occurred Thursday, August 14th, 2019 at around Randolph Apartments, 516 East Randolph Street, Kirksville.
In this case, the suspect knocked on the door of a resident of Randolph apartments, asked if the resident had seen his phone, and then tried to enter the apartment to get a phone he thought was his. The resident shut the door and locked the male out of his apartment.
The person of interest in this case is described as a white male approximately 5′ 6″ tall that weighs around 150 pounds with a bald head and shaved face wearing a black shirt and cargo shorts.
Since this incident was reported the male suspect has been identified as Justin Evans who sometimes goes by the alias Christopher Evans.
The TRUMAN POLICE DEPARTMENT is currently investigating this case. Anyone who has come into contact or does come into contact with this individual or has information about this case is urged to contact Truman PD at (660) 665-5621.
